Community Development
ECDC assists local organizations with fundraising and execution of business and community development projects that make Emmetsburg an attractive and enjoyable place to live and spend time.
Soper Park Splash Pad
ECDC worked in partnership with the City of Emmetsburg to apply for grant funding and secure private donations for the Soper Park Splash Pad project. The splash pad opened in 2025.
Riviera Theatre
ECDC works in partnership with the Riviera Theatre to raise funds for theater maintenance and upgrades. We believe keeping a movie theater in town greatly benefits the community. It's a safe, low-cost family friendly amenity.
Outdoor Fitness Court
ECDC partnered with Iowa Lakes Community College to secure grant funding that allowed ILCC to install an outdoor fitness court outside the Smith Wellness Center. The fitness court is free for all in the community to use.
Trail
ECDC led efforts to secure a $100,000 Wellmark grant that enabled the City, trail committee, ECDC, and landowners to create a sidewalk/trail connecting the Emmetsburg Middle & High School campus to the Iowa Lakes Community College campus.
